Disc Golf Course Now Open

Posted by: editor

A new Disc Golf Course has been installed in the City Park by the Charleston Lake and is now open.  There are signs and instructions along the nine-hole course that starts by the pavilion next to the lake, goes across the open area of the park, through part of the woods and back across the park where it began.

Disc golf is played much like traditional golf.  Players use a flying disc or Frisbee® instead of balls and clubs with the object of completing each hole in the fewest number of throws.  The "hole" is an elevated metal basket.  Disc golf offers year-round fun and fitness and is designed to be enjoyed by people of all ages. It only takes one disc for basic play and the cost is minimal ($10 - $15).

A grand opening is being planned.  The course was paid for with money left over from grant money for the Charleston Skate Park.
