In August 2004, the Charleston School District opened the brand new, state-of-the-art Charleston High School.

Here are a few interesting facts about the new school:

- The project took 16 months to complete.

- The total cost was $6,120,000.

 

- The facility consists of 89,900 square feet.

- The facility has 16 classrooms with at least 6 computer drops
and one TV cable drop in every room.

- The cafeteria is approximately 5000 square feet
and will service 500 students at a time.

- There are 2 complete science labs and each lab station
has internet access.

- The computer lab is 1800 square feet with 30 high-level
Pentium computers.

 
 

- The library is approximately 2700 square feet with 12 computer stations
and a class research area.

- The parking lot will accommodate approximately 450 cars.

- The gymnasium will seat 1900 people.

- A four-sided center scoreboard in the gym will be operated by wireless control.

- The floor in the gym is made of #1 Canadian maple.
